You’ll know why I’ve made this lesson “1B” when you open your inbox to read lesson “1A”. Building an engaged list starts long before you send an email. More than anything, email engagement is about trust. Are you the person you claim to be? This trust is built up over time. What better place to start building this trust than on your thank you page?
On your thank you page, explain to your subscriber exactly what’s going to happen next. Tell them also what they need to do, if anything, to get the result you promised them on your landing page. Step by step, with no steps skipped. Done right, an optimized thank you page seeds engagement, leading to better email deliverability long-term.
Here’s what’s going to happen now that you’ve subscribed:
- I’ve sent you an email containing lesson 1A
- From name: Nabeel Azeez
- From email: nabeel@nabeelazeez.com
- Subject line: [Action Required] List building course
If you don’t see this email in your inbox, check your Promotions or Spam folders.
- Move it to your inbox (see gif below)
- Mark it as “important”
- Save nabeel@nabeelazeez.com to your contacts
- Reply to the email to let me know you got it

The instructions I’ve given you are gmail-specific. But there’s a way to personalize these instructions based on which email service your subscriber uses (e.g. Outlook, Yahoo, etc.) That’s advanced and requires some knowledge of HTML so it’s beyond the scope of this course.
